We are a team of researchers who are dedicated to working on the immunology of vaccines. At present, we are developing a high-throughput bead-based assay to quantify antibodies that are induced by the pneumococcal vaccines. Besides, we are also establishing a multiplex opsonophagocytic assay (MOPA) to assess the functional quality of the antibodies. These assays help to identify the effectiveness of antigens in the vaccines to induce protective immunity in various populations, such as old age and children. Besides, we are also studying whether saliva can be used as a specimen for immunological studies of the vaccines.

We have started a crowdfunding project through Nagasaki University to support the development of the 24-plex bead-based assay for the quantification of antibody levels against 24 vaccine serotypes of pneumococci. Please support us through this page by December 20, 2022: https://readyfor.jp/projects/NU-VIRG/announcements/236172
